Newsletter
Wikipedia’s description of a newsletter is a regularly distributed publication generally about one main topic that is of interest to its subscribers.
A mailing list is a valuable asset to any company, you can target news directly to users that will keep your brand foremost in their minds which will encourage repeat business.
So what do you need to do?
Have a newsletter subscription form on your website that users can easily subscribe to and receive your regular publication. Ask all customers for permission to keep in contact.
You should only send opt-in newsletters, sending to any email address that have not requested information from you is SPAM.
How do you do it?
There are many newsletter creation and distribution software packages and companies offering a service to create the template and send the newsletter for you.
Depending on the size of your list you can consider a solution that suits you.
I would recommend Mailchimp as an easy to use free option to start with. Mailchimp has a great reporting system and easy upgrade.
What now?
When creating content for your newsletter you need to consider the user and what they may be interested in.
Write something relevant to your business and not a sales pitch on every newsletter.
You can promote areas of the business but make the newsletter content more about you giving something to your users than requesting something from them.
Newsletter Content
Your newsletter content should link to the information in full on your website, encourage this by making the links obvious and the introduction interesting but not too revealing.
The point is to get your users to return to your website and fulfil the goals of the website.
Make the content interesting, unique and relevant. Don’t forget to add your keywords, if possible.
Unsubscribe
Ensure your user can easily unsubscribe if they do not wish to receive the newsletter anymore.
A difficult unsubscribe process can affect your reputation as a company that take privacy and customer services seriously.
Regular distribution
Make your newsletter regular, to a timetable that suits you.
